Industrial Pretreatment
The Des Moines Metropolitan Wastewater Reclamation Authority (WRA) is the local Control Authority responsible for enforcing regulations in the Federal Clean Water Act and local ordinances by ensuring industrial and commercial dischargers remain compliant with all applicable environmental laws as it pertains to wastewater discharged to the publicly owned treatment works (POTW). The WRA Industrial Pretreatment Department oversees the Fat, Oil, and Grease Program, Hauled Waste Program, industrial & commercial wastewater discharges, discharge authorizations and prohibitions, and other related business as it relates to pollutants discharged to the sanitary sewer system. Laboratory Services
The Des Moines Metropolitan WRF laboratory offers a broad range of wet chemistry analytical testing services. The WRF lab is certified by the Iowa DNR for numerous wet chemistry analyses.
